The Havels | Film Colorado Springs Family

I just love the Havel family, period. I met Rachel at the beginning of this year on a photographers coffee date. We ended up chatting for a few hours and then a few nights later, we went over to their house (which is about 1 block away) for dinner. Rachel and I totally hit it off that first night and have been buds since then. Together we are pursuing our film photography and going together also to a film workshop in Charleston this October, I can’t wait.

We finally got around to doing a photo swap and I’m excited to bring you a few fun shots from their family session. :)

Kelli & Sam | Film Engagements

It’s so exciting to see Kelli and Sam finally on the blog as an ENGAGED couple, finally. For their engagement session we wanted to give a hint of vintage feeling, as that’s a major theme in their wedding. The house we shot in is a house that I nanny at and every corner and crevice has little vintage perks, it was perfect for the shoot!

I’m super excited for their wedding this July, where I’ll be a bridesmaid AND shooting the wedding. You heard that right :)

a Foggy Lake Sunrise

Last month Josh and I road tripped with his family down to Emory, Texas where Josh’s brother was getting married. It was such a fun time and one of my favorite things about the trip was the change of scenery. I went from the dry, brown, downtown of Colorado Springs to green, humid, snake filled, Lake backyard Texas! Josh’s brothers house backed up to a lake and though every time I walked out there I was afraid of stepping on a water moccasin, it was worth it.
Josh and I got up at 6am with a tripod and took photos of the beautiful foggy morning on the lake. All captured on creamy, yummy film of course!

Kara | Film Garden of the Gods Portraits

Kara is one of my best friends from Texas.. It all started when I was 9 and she was 8, we met at gymnastics practice in Lumberton, Texas. From there we were inseparable, having sleepovers all the time even though I lived an hour away. My family was so devoted to my gymnastics career that we drove an hour to practice and an hour back 4 or 5 days a week. Doing homework in the car and eating Jack and the Box chicken nuggets with ranch, those are my memories. Kara and I grew to be such great friends during those fun years. Riding in the back of SUVs early in the morning driving to our gymnastics competitions with our mothers braiding our hair painfully on the tippy top of our head. I have SO many memories with this girl… And here we are, nearly 12 years later and we are still close.
Kara and her mom flew up for Josh and I’s wedding last September but Kara couldn’t get enough of Colorado. She came up here a few weeks ago and spent a wonderful week with me and Josh during her Spring Break. It was such a blast to have her here! I made sure that we took  a day to do a shoot, I love the way they turned out!

Garden of the Gods Date

Yesterday was a beautiful, wonderful day. The morning was a bit gloomy and misty but nonetheless it warmed up to 75. Once Josh got off work we decided to take our scooter for a ride around Garden of the Gods. As we were walking around holding hands I told Josh that I didn’t want to be a person who ever moved away from Colorado and realized I took GOG for granted. I mean, tons of people come from all over to see this awesome park and I live 10 minutes away! I definitely want to do this more often :)

Just wanted to share a few shots from our hike/ photo excursion / scooter ride day.
